FIRSTLY, I thoroughly enjoy the farmers’ market which is held in York city centre and I do use the facility.

Now what I want to say is why do we not have local markets, ie one in Acomb , perhaps on the Green or with permission and an entrance fee at the local Acomb Sports Club? This could be an event where ordinary people with a glut of garden produce could sell them or indeed exchange them – a bag of apples for beans etc.

It is just an idea but it could work.

there are generally farmers markets on most weekends around York and district. I was a regular visitor to Murton for many years.

If you are a farmer, or produce your own fruit/veg etc., I'm sure contacting the council will be able to point you in the right direction.
