This is what we need
11:59am Thursday 6th September 2012 in Letters By Reader's letter
REGARDING The Press report of September 4 about the multi-million pound proposal to flatten Queen Street bridge to make way for a bus station, this is the best news I have heard of, after years of visitors to York asking where is our local bus station.
It is so embarrassing to say we do not have this facility in our city.
We need to update to keep up with other towns such as Leeds and Harrogate, who have wonderful interchanges for bus passengers to use.
Barbara Pettitt, Rosemary Place, Navigation Road, York.

At present it is difficult for travellers to find an onward connection on leaving the station, with some buses leaving from Rougier street, others from the Piccadilly area and yet others from the Railway station. Even locals are often perplexed. Lets hope the scheme goes ahead

NoNews: I've been asked. Wetherby, Knaresborough and Harrogate all have bus stations; until a few years ago Doncaster had two!

They could call it the James Alexander Bus Emporium.
