We hope York City fans enjoy their trip to Rotherham United’s new ground tomorrow evening – but a word of warning.

Our supporters club visited in July, for the Rotherham v Hearts pre-season friendly, and although the home fans were welcoming and the ground very impressive, we were disappointed by the stadium rules which prevented us taking our flag in.

We have displayed our York Hearts banner proudly at grounds around Britain and beyond, but it and many other flags were banned from Rotherham’s New York Stadium, apparently due to them not having fire safety certificates.

The policy seemed rather excessive, and we thought it may be helpful to alert City fans ahead of Tuesday night.
