Change law on ‘torture’
12:00pm Friday 13th July 2012 in Letters By Reader's letter
I READ in a national newspaper about how Richard Atkins, from Newhall in Derby, filmed his dogs brutally killing foxes and badgers.
What else he’s kills and tortured we will never know. Even this idiot won’t have filmed everything.
Atkins only got 24 weeks in jail, which is better than nothing.
There are hundreds of people like Atkins, killing and torturing our wildlife.
We need to be jailing these lowlifes for years, not weeks.
If any of The Press’s readers care about our wildlife, write to your MP telling them to start taking animal cruelty seriously and get a change in the law.
If magistrates can’t hand down stiff sentences, then let the crown court deal with the animal killers.
