Initial embarrassment

I was interested to read Sue Nelson’s column (Such a shame about the name, July 9). I have come across some unfortunate names.

Parents need to consider the initials too. I have come across men with initials WC and VD.

A couple I knew with the surname Aires gave their son the initials SW.

I am sure it would make boys think of swears when he goes to school. Problems arise sometimes when girls marry.

I met a May whose married surname was Day.

Fortunately, I was able to do needlework.
