You are as predictable as you are unpleasant. Once again accusing anyone who raises this issue of being Matthew Laverack and once again resorting to abuse.
You didn't like it when your user name was ridiculed - but you are still happy to be offensive to others. You are a disgrace. You should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself.

Now let's move on to the issue in question. Is Mr Jones right or Wrong? Does he have a point?
Do you have any genuine contribution to make to the debate? Or will it be yet another outpouring of your bile and hatred?
The facts speak for themselves. Builders have shut up shop. It is not because of the global economic crisis. Builders were leaving the industry long before the recession. To use an appropriate metaphor - anyone who genuinely knows anything about this industry can tel you that Mr Jones has hit the nail very firmly on the head!"

Building our future

THE strategic manager of the CITB Construction Skills is right when he says we must build our way out of recession (Letters, April 27).

The problem is that over the past 15 years, excessive regulations and burdens have been heaped on builders to the point where it is no longer worthwhile to undertake speculative projects.

The demands and expectations placed on builders have become ridiculous. The potential rewards are minimal but the financial risks are enormous. That is why so many of them, like myself, have put away the tools indefinitely.

John Jones, Ex-house builder, Sand Hutton Manor, York.
