What about gridlock?

MONKS Cross – quarts and pint pots?
The report from the council’s transport officers has confirmed what was apparent all along – that the additional traffic generated by a vast increase in retail at Monk’s Cross, plus a football stadium, simply cannot be accommodated on existing roads. No amount of talking will change this.

Also, as Joey touches on above, are we to say right that's it then, nothing more is built in York because Ann has decided she has everything she wants and the roads are full up?

The main problem, as it is with a lot of central York's traffic congestion, congestion along Holgate and along Water End, is the A1237 being well over capacity for most of the day. In fact, the A1237 was at capacity not very long at all after it was built, yet in th decades that have followed no real improvements have been made to tackle the key probelm of this road: at-grade junctions. For the effectiveness it does in the long term, those who decide to make the roundabouts bigger might as well be **** into a hurricane.
well, there is one simple fix. Build a better road structure to accomodate.
