Loving memory

AT present the country is remembering the 30th anniversary of the Falklands war, April – June 1982, in which 255 British servicemen lost their lives.

In the memorial garden adjacent to the Acomb War Memorial, on Acomb Green, is a small plaque which commemorates a York soldier who died in the conflict: “In loving memory of Welsh Guardsman Andrew Walker, Killed in action June 8 1982 at Bluff Cove, Falkland Isles, Never forgotten by his loving family and friends.”

Thomas Peacock, Oakland Avenue, Stockton Lane, York.
