Spend something on us instead

WHILE walking around Osbaldwick, I was able to observe a variety of interesting views.

With the weather we have had, the pools of standing water, overflowing drains and generally muddy cracked roads full of potholes clearly showed the lack of funding for this area.

I know that our councillor has been trying hard to get some of these problems addressed, but residents can only observe the vast amount of money being spent on “the model village”, with the natural drainage from Osbaldwick open land being destroyed and the weeks of heavy construction traffic crumbling the village road so much that water cannot flow away.

Perhaps the City of York Council should give back to the residents of Osbaldwick a portion of what it took away – open land for residents’ amenity, land for travellers’ horses and some of the £5.26 million that our land was sold for to repair our roads and footpaths.

A different solution would be to continue to ignore our ‘waterlogged’ cries and provide each resident with a pair of wellington boots.

Well somebody's put some gravel in the chasms down Metcalfe Lane so at least something good has been done, even if that's not an adopted road.

I wish travellers want to go back to their roots and stay travellers, stay away from the taxpayers thats trying hard to make a living. I have had nothing but trouble with travellers in my area. They are violent thugs and the police are scared of them. They prey on young single mums to store their stolen goods and the mums have no choice.
