Why subs are essential

The Government is being urged to cancel the replacement of Trident nuclear submarines, which are due for replacement shortly.

You can guess the Lib Dems are putting their nose in this, and saying Trident is not needed. They would say that, since they do not want Trident at all. To replace it now will cost an estimated £25bn, which is peanuts. This comes out of the defence budget. If the Government delays building these new subs, the cost will go up!

We need to update our Trident subs; four subs, three out at sea all the time, and one in for repairs at the base in Faslane, in Scotland. So come on, Government, get the contracts signed for the new subs quickly. Don’t be left behind in the arms race.
