How to beat shortage

SOME water companies are saying that due to shortage of rain, reservoirs are getting very low and need a lot of rain to fill them up, or else there could be a shortage of water in the summer.

This could even lead to hosepipe bans. How the devil did we get into this situation? We are surrounded by water – surely the water companies could get water in from the sea and build more desalination plants over the country.

Yes, they would cost a lot to build, but these could be built out of the great profits water companies make every year. Shareholders should bear the brunt for once.

.....not to mention their massive running costs due to the huge amount of fuel that they use. And yes, shareholders should indeed do this on a charitable, philanthropic basis.

(Tom, have you got a private pension or any investments by any chance? 'Cos it ain't gonna give much in return if, as it might, have invested in any of the water companies!)

Fair comment Mr Sheen but are we suggesting that the only purpose of a water company is to post a profit for the shareholders dividend? What about providing a service? No water = no service, no service =no business! Now, we all know why we are in this situation: 1) The lack of investment in creating a grid to distribute water from wetter areas and 2) too many people in a small country using water.

Mr Sheen, don't wind me up on the man made Global Warming / Climate Change scam. The alarmists can't make up their minds whether to scare us with drought or floods. Hot, dry, cold, warm or wet all depends on where the air is coming from and because weather / climate is chaotic one can't forecast accurately more than a few days in advance. So, if someone suggests to you that the Arctic will be ice free as soon as next year or the Himalayan glaciers will melt by 2032; ask them how they know!
