Riccall is just tops

I HAVE lived in several areas of England but never in a village with such an excellent parish council as Riccall.

They try to provide activities and centres of interest for all age groups, which includes consultation with the residents. They produce an excellent magazine which is delivered free to each household and informs all villagers of everything happening and proposals for the future. It is a really caring council which goes over and above the usual requirements.

This Sunday was no exception, when groups of volunteers led by council members hit the streets of Riccall with snow shovels at first light. They cleared the main pavements leading to key venues in the village. They not only did Station Road where I live but my 90-year-old neighbour’s long drive so that he could go to chapel – all unasked.

It all makes for a cohesive village with very low crime rate, a great community spirit and lots of amenities. No wonder houses sell here, even in a slump.
