We must keep NHS

I HAVE just returned from York Hospital after having an operation. I was very well treated during my stay.

Throughout my life my admiration for the medical staff has never wavered. I was born before its conception in 1948. I am not alone in saying that our medical staff remains the envy of most countries.

However, my main concern is private companies taking over and cherry-picking for profits and disrupting a fine service. We must be careful going down this road because I for one do not want our NHS to disappear.

Every person at some point will need the NHS so we should all pause and think to ourselves what we would do without it.
