IS City of York Council blind to the fact that our long-standing Newgate Market is diminishing by the day?
They want to know what to do with Splash Palace when it is demolished: put our market where it belongs, back in Parliament Street. Raising the rents isn’t helping our lads on the market. If it carries on like this there will be no rents to collect.

I don't mind having a decent market there but more than half the stuff on sale at Newgate Market is complete tat and lowers the tone of a nice place like York. I'm not against them earning a living but I think the market is fine where it is.
