Too much hatred

I AGREE with Sonja Crisp (Letters, January 27) when she says we should speak out against hatred.

Unfortunately, some correspondents regularly try to fill us with hatred for others.

One hates all Germans, even though the war has been over for nearly 70 years and Germany is now the most civilised, successful and law-abiding country in Europe.

Then there is the woman who condemns the Israelis because they retaliated when Muslims “fired a few rockets into Israel”.

Then there is the man who tries to fill us with his hatred of all things American. This person believes the Japanese were innocent in the 1940s, and that the Iranian Islamic government is just a friendly group who are trying to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, in spite of the fact that the Iranians have promised to destroy Israel and that they are developing the nuclear power 250 feet underground.

I mention no names, but we all know who the caps fit.

Derek Martin, Fulford Road, York.

Assertions are useless without providing sources. When has Iran threatened Israel as a state? It has condemned the Zionist entity, ie the government of Israel. Why would an Arab country want to destroy another country which is 20% Arab ?
Under the guise of pleading tolerance, Mr Martin seems more like an advocate of Islamophobia.
Don't sleepwalk us into another criminal war, this time against Iran, based on Neocon racial hatred and lies. Remember those weapons of Mass destruction?

You forgot the woman who hates all women but herself, the man who hates cyclists, everyone who hates the council etc etc.

Anyway, hilariously simplistic letter.
250 feet underground you say? That's pretty exact. Seen it for yourself have you?

Well said Jezreel - I agree completely.

The problem with Israel is not that Iran might attack it, but that it might attack Iran. (There have already been lots of scientists murdered in Iran, which looks like Israel's doing.)

Iran serves to divert attention from Palestine and from Israel's own nuclear weapons. When will Israel get back to its 1947 borders? All the rest has been gained by conquest.

Did not the Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, talk about wiping Israel off the map in an interview on 27 May 2005.

Bluff and bluster of course

The Iranian President did speak of "wiping Israel off the map"
That is not so extreme if he simply means that the word "Israel" should be replaced with a less emotive name that might accommodate all religions in that area as one tolerant democracy instead of a crazed Zionist extension of the US war machine.
