I AM looking for ancestors who lived in Yorkshire and Lancashire.
The surname I have learned is spelled many different ways and it is a rather common one in England.
William Ratcliffe and Matilda Curtis Ratcliffe married in 1805 and had one son, James, born in 1805 – then nothing. James as an adult married and had four children. Three I think by a first wife and one by a second. Both of his wives’ names were Elizabeth. Elizabeth Greenlees was his second wife and mother of Frances, who died as a child. A first wife, Elizabeth, was the mother of Ann (1838), Felix (1842) and James (1844).
I know that James and his daughter and family as well as one of his two sons lived in Yorkshire – Hunslet, Leeds areas are the names listed in different family records.
If you know anything about these people or their descendants in England, please email me, at lgc877@aol.com including the name Ratcliffe or Curtis in the subject so that I will know whether to open my mail.
