Light not under bushel

Once again I must point out to Jezreel, Buzz Lightyear and others that I do not post online comments against readers’ letters under any pseudonym.

Anything I have to say will have my name under it.

Unlike you, I am not frightened to openly state my views.

Moreover, any lights burning late in Lord Mayor’s Walk are nothing to do with me. I am in Australia.

Matthew Laverack, Lord Mayor’s Walk, York.

"I am in Australia."

So stop telling us from 12,000 miles away how to run our city.

It's your city too, Matthew. Keep the letters coming and ignore the knockers who have nothing to contribute to the debate and resort to personal attacks.

If they disagree with your views, they should do this with arguments, based on facts !

Fancy me thinking Matthew was burning the midnight oil in Lord Mayor's Walk when all the time he was in Oz playing with his didgeridoo.
If Matthew says he is not posting in the name of Mr Crabtree then I owe him an apology. I shall also be apologising to Dr. Jekyll for getting him mixed up with Mr Hyde

But since the beginning of the net people have used pseudonyms to talk to each other. This is tradition for the net and shouldn't be changed.

I totally agree with everyone, they are entitled to thier opinions, and if they have one unlike someone who doesn't have one, opinion that is, are entitled to say it, by the way Mr Laverack which masonic lodge do attend please?

Oh yeah check out my name in print getting a big shout out on the letters page, that puts me in a select bunch... there can't be many of us who've ever had a mention :)

However I don't deserve this exposure. I haven't said anything of the sort since the last letter of refutaaage.

Nor do I deserve the mantle of "frightened to openly state my views" It's what we do here. We are stating our views, openly.
In this context, anything I have to say will have my name above it.

How does using an internet pseudonym stack up against having The Press publish letters under a false address?
In my experience The Press insist on a correct current full address and phone number to have letters published. Are they making a regular exception?

He is not me, and I am not Matthew. I am in York, and he is in Australia. He is an architect and I am an almost redundant building worker. He knows what he is talking about and that is one thing we do have in common !

I am not Matthew either, I am a retired builder who sits back amazed at the ridiculas drivel written against him, and the devastation being visited upon the house building industry in York.
The man knows his subject inside out. He runs rings around you lot and the council.
Why ? Because like me he cares for the industry he represents and the City he lives in. A few more like him would be a bonus.

Ah! It's all coming out now! All these people lobbying for change just so happen to have a vested interest in the outcome! Outrageous.

Yes its outrageous that I want~

People to have somewhere to live.

People to have employment.

Apprenticeships for the youngsters coming through.

Buisinesses not to go bankrupt.

Craftsmen not having to travel miles to earn a crust because theres no work in York.

Councillors to admit that their policies have utterly failed.

Does that cover OUTRAGEOUS

Your comment is ridiculous.
There is absolutely nothing wrong in having a vested interest and lobbying for a change that is for your benefit. Those who you criticise, are lobbying to save jobs and businesses, including their own - what is so outrageous about that ?
By far, a greater outrage, is the irresponsible behaviour of the council in making a policy - the 50 per cent affordable housing target - which has caused so much damage to businesses, jobs and York's economy.
