TWO recent letters in The Press have referred to the number of letting agency signs in the Hull Road area.
Counted on the day of writing in Green Dykes Lane (lots of lovely family houses, several of which are detached and individually designed) were letting signs on 13 of its 30 houses; 14 signs in Lamel Street (34 houses) and 18 signs in Siward Street (51 houses).
These figures do not reflect the total number of housses in multiple occupation (HMOs); in each of these streets there are HMOs not sporting letting signs, particularly in Siward Street.
City York City Council’s proposal to have a 20 per cent threshold of HMOs brings to mind the expression “bolting the stable door”.

So, let me understand. We are complaining that the houses near the universityhave been bought for students.
In other letters, we are also complaining about students driving to university because they cannot find places to live close enough to walk.
I think we're in a bit of a cycle?

...On second thoughts, that'd be a MASSIVE improvement over this bunch of moaning gas-bags.

.
But given you haven't referred to students and i rent in the Hull Road area, i can only assume you are talking about me.
.
Why am i not allowed somewhere to call home, just because i can't currently afford to buy?
