DAVID Cameron’s speech on immigration was clearly aimed at winning the Tories some increased votes in the elections on May 5, but it will not.

The words were so feeble and will not deceive the many people in England who are unhappy about what has happened in this country since the 1960s, and more especially what took place during the 13 years of the New Labour government.

We had to witness not only increased immigration but actively encouraged immigration with an “open door” policy.

Because this country is a member of the EU, Cameron and his lot are powerless to stop the flow from Eastern Europe, soon to be made far worse as the temporary restrictions put on countries like Romania and Bulgaria are removed.

On top of this come others from Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and other areas, which the Coalition is reluctant to stop, with some believing that reducing immigration would harm Britain. I suspect that most “ordinary” English people heartily disagree.

This subject will never go away until people like UKIP, Migration Watch and others are listened to.

• DAVID Cameron has promised that the scale of immigration will be reduced to the level of the 1980s – rightly so!

It is no use waffling on about this problem we have with immigration, it needs to stop forthwith.

After Cameron’s comments, Labour has jumped on the bandwagon and accused ministers of not delivering on immigration. The cheek of it. It was Tony Blair who opened the floodgates for everyone who wanted to come into this country.

We have endured the biggest influx of immigration in history – thank you Labour for that.

Vince Cable accuses Mr Cameron of going back on his word on this matter. Maybe he should explain what he his talking about.
