WITH regard to the letter headlined A Crying Shame (The Press, September 3), I believe I am the nearest town crier to York.
I offered my services to City of York Council when John Redpath retired, if only for civic events (I am also a member of the Brittanic Guild of Toastmasters).
An acknowledgement to my original letter has been the only reaction since. I believe I clocked a relatively quiet 100.4 decibels at Bridlington!
I shall be organising the first Malton and Norton Town Criers’ competition on October 23, so why not come along and hear how the ten contestants perform?
