SO Richard Brodie goes to Crawley. I now fear for our wonderful York City.
We used to have managers who believed in giving young players a chance, such as Billy McCewan and Colin Walker.
Now we have a manager who would sooner (in his own words) bring in a player coming to the end of his career than give the youngsters a chance. So now who is the big transfer going to be? The last three players to come through the youth ranks have gone (Liam Shepherd, Adam Boyes, Andy Mcwilliams), while Billy McCewan’s two signings have now both left (Martin Woolford, Richard Brodie).
I also know a father of one of our under-11/12 team, and when they returned to training only five turned up. The others have gone to other clubs who look after their future, unlike our present management team.
So now I honestly believe we are in for a mid-table finish, even though supporters are always been told by the board and the manager we want to get out of this league as soon as we can. This is not the way to do it.
A very disgruntled season ticket holder.
Andrew Wood, Stuart Road, York.
