I AM pleased that Coun Steve Galloway has decided to support the 20mph zone in Heworth (The Press, September 1).
We have been petitioning the council to introduce 20mph in residential areas in York for the past three years, but this has been blocked by Coun Galloway until recently.
Only after many people signed our petitions did Coun Galloway agree to pilot areas.
It seems that he has had a welcome change of heart, and I look forward to seeing safer, quieter and less polluted streets as 20mph spreads across the city.
