Galtres Festival worth the money

I WOULD like to make a few points about your review of the Galtres Festival (The Press, August 31).

Firstly, this festival was never exclusive to Crayke as it has been held at various villages the past.

Therefore it was not meant to be a “village fete” type of event.

There was a mention about the cost of tickets, but nothing about the half-price tickets available to residents. Also, nothing was said about the charities which benefit from the event.

Money has been donated towards a local teenage cancer sufferer, who will now be having a holiday abroad with her family, as well as the Yorkshire Air Ambulance, St Monica’s Hospital and The Arts Barge project.

I cannot understand why your reviewer said most people would not pay the price just to enter a beer festival.

The 3,500 people who attended obviously thought it was worth the price.

The bands were playing continuously on two stages, there was a variety of food, and activities for children. Well worth every penny.

I would finally like to say what a brilliant weekend we had and well done to all those who made it such a success.

Can’t wait for next year!

Angela Kirton, Easingwold.
