Director General of the BBC is too costly

THE Director General of the BBC, Mark Thompson, pays himself £838,000 a year, almost four times as much as our Prime Minister.

In a “speech” read word for word from notes, Mr Thompson states that to save money there will have to be more repeats. His cronies have also feathered their nests and they say “We’re all in this together”?

Also, why is the BBC obsessed with Northern Irish and Scottish accents, especially news reporters and on Radio Five?

John Cawood, Larkfield Road, Harrogate.

I can also think of an Italian paid £6Million a year.
As for the BBC; no wonder the licence fee is so high.

Like all public services, private sector, politicians, professions, financial advisers, bankers and the markets, there has been years of reckless financial mismanagement which could not last. It is changing now as WE pay the inevitable price with our savings, pensions and inflation yet again.

The BBC and NHS must be protected through all this. The wolves never stop nibbling away at what they see as lucrative sources of profit to feed their aching greed. Mr Murdoch and his like are not at all interested in the quality of the nations' health or our leisure, relaxation from work, unless there is massive profit in it, on their terms.

Not even with an unhealthy world wide monopoly, can he give us anything like a replacement for these British jewels or improve them. The only way he can get his hands on them is bit by bit, as the right people gain power. Every bit makes their position more vulnerable to attack and less beneficial to the nations' people.

Beware! there are people in power who have shown they will sell anything for, what they see as, the benefit of share holders and the classes from whom they draw minority political support which gives them power with FPTPost.

ie; Most of our services, utilities and industrial heritage which now belong to other countries. Dover next!

UK PLC for sale started in 1980 under Mrs Thatcher and shows no signs of abating. Even the Late Harold McMillan made the point that the family silver was being sold off.
This whole affair was disgraceful but it paid to support a political agenda which you dear voters supported by the million!
The massive salaries of high profile and senior BBC personnel are a throw back to the 80's 'loads of money' culture of me first greed.
Remember, Mrs Thatcher said there was 'no such thing as society, only consumers.' She also said 'No lame Ducks' & that 'the market will decide.' So, the Banks are all bust & your savings with it; Brilliant!
Governments have always supported the BBC's request for a higher licence fee to prop up these big pay packets, again, you voted in the decision makers.
As for the impartiality of the BBC, well that went long ago. Is it no wonder the BBC put out biased Global Warming propaganda when their own pension fund is heavily invested in renewable energy.
Lord help us if we have to depend on Ed 'climate change' Miliband' to fix our wrongs.
