I HAVE written before about this, but I shall try again. Exactly who is blocking Ice Factor’s plans to re-run the York ice rink over Christmas?
We know who our councillors are who gave in at the first sign of protest.
We hear that Andrew Waller, our elected representative, has at least heard some of the protests of his constituents.
We know who would like to re-run this highly popular facility. But who is blocking it?
Names please, of the persons representing Her Majesty’s court service who see fit to close a facility enjoyed by thousands because it disturbed two (yes two!) cases last year?
We really do need to know who these people are who appear to act without authority and quite anonymously.
Perhaps then we can negotiate a compromise.

The farce regarding the dismissal of the ice rink from near the crown courts and Clifford’s Tower is getting beyond belief, especially as a carousel it seems is allowed to operate there.
As far as alternative venues are concerned, there is nothing wrong with the St George’s Field site; historically there have been fairs on this site for as long as I can remember.
The council’s excuse for not granting the big wheel permission to site there was because it floods. This could easily be solved by building a three-foot wall around the car park, the cost of which would be very quickly recouped by the normally lost car park fees when it is in flood.
Problem solved. The ice rink could be there by November if the powers that be got there act together.
