Why didn’t they air Scarborough show on TV?

ON Friday July 23, ITV1 Calendar News and BBC1 Look North gave us sneak previews of the reopening of the wonderful open-air theatre at Scarborough (the biggest in Europe, so we are led to believe) and talked to guest artists Kiri Te Kanawa and Jose Carreras.

It really looked a spectacular setting with a fine evening in prospect; the full house audience could look forward to a great night.

What a pity neither BBC nor ITV chose to visit for the full programme and to show everyone this magnificent setting.

I think viewing figures would have been high and would have represented money well spent, instead of all these repeats.

Saw the revamped theatre this week and it really looks splendid. It's brought life back to a previously neglected part of the resort.

Scarborough can't afford the opportunity to let people watch the event for free? They are even more strapped for cash then we are with their council. More then likely they needed every extra penny of income, too much of a risk letting it be aired for free.
