AS A participant in the York Open Bowls Competition, I would like to thank all the people who work exceptionally hard to make the event such a success.
Ladies provide excellent refreshments at the Clarence Gardens venue in quite cramped conditions, but continue to serve up tasty food, which is very good value – and it’s always served with a smile.
As well as this, the men work to make sure the event runs smoothly and the atmosphere is one of mutual enjoyment and respect.
I know entries to the competition have fallen slightly, but I hope the event continues for many more years; it has very quickly become a large part of our summer holiday and we would not like to see it disappear.
Many friends are made as part of the York Open week, not just among the bowlers but familiar faces of the spectators also. Well done to all concerned. Jill Newsome, North Duffield, Selby.
