IT IS wonderful that as a city we now have some part to play in the 2012 Olympics, with the deal clinched to host Gambian athletes in York and now further moves to approach other countries (The Press, June 8).
I know that from the start, the main players in this were the University of York St John and I would like to thank them for all they have done. Without their help, I wonder if we would have succeeded to engage with and encourage Gambia’s athletes to base themselves here.
