Views on York's new library

I have yet to visit the new library so cannot yet give any informed opinion on it.

However, Sonja Crisp’s letter (Between the lines, June 4) does give rise to one or two areas of concern, namely noise and books and computers being used in a busy area where drinks and food are being consumed.

A good chance of an accident due to spillage, it seems to me.

One other thing; Sonja claims to be an avid reader. Her reading obviously has not improved her grammar – “children with parents and grandparents were sat” (sic) she writes. Sonja, it should be “were sitting” or you could have used the preterite “sat” -the “were” is redundant if you do so.

I'm told that inclusivity is the keyword for modern library services.
So is it goodbye to quiet browsing. Is it welcome to mobile phones, rattling keyboards and kids tearing around the place. We shall have to wait and see which happens!

The new library is lovely, I was worried but now very impressed, well done.
