My husband and I would like to complain to York council about all the buses and cars parked down Knavesmire Road, on both sides.
It is only waiting for an accident to take place, and then something might be done about it. Sometimes you have to wait a long time for oncoming traffic because of the size of the buses.
May I suggest that if they are allowed to park there, why doesn’t the council put in parking meters, which would bring in a substantial amount of money for the council, which always seems to be short of money.
Mr and Mrs Mountain, Jamieson Terrace, York.
• A City of York Council spokesperson said: “The parking along Knavesmire Road tends to be commuters and tour coaches looking for somewhere free to park for the day.
“If restrictions or parking charges are put in place, there is a strong likelihood that the drivers would park in residential streets off Tadcaster Road and in the South Bank area, which would generate more problems for local people.
“Restrictions have been put in place at key locations near the main cycle and pedestrian crossing, and provide good visibility for drivers and those wishing to cross the road.
“If the parking starts to create ongoing problems, from a traffic management perspective, there may be a case to implement a further, limited set of restrictions to ease traffic flow.
“At present there are no plans to take any action, though this could be reviewed if a specific area of concern, such as a junction, is highlighted.”
