What kind of people are this nanny-state Goverment employing when we have to listen to the stupid reasoning from the likes of Dr Maggie Atkinson, where she is calling for the age of legal responsibility to raised?
It may be that I, and countless thousands like me, were brought up to know the difference between right and wrong before we started school at the age of five.
We knew we had done wrong by the tone of our parents voice and very occasionally when we overstepped the mark we were give a short sharp reminder by getting a slap an the bottom to make us understand right from wrong.
These were not a cruel beating but a quick reminder to make you understand that rules and regulations had to be obeyed. We had respect for everyone in authority or anyone who was an adult, especially teachers, the police and, even more, our immediate family.
A small, but ever-growing number of children, have no respect for anyone in authority.
When they are caught in their wrongdoing they are immediately told they are being misunderstood and treated with kid gloves, and if anyone disagrees with the authorities they are admonished by the likes of Dr Atkinson.
Myself and thousands of other people are sick of this type of behaviour and would welcome a change where the punishment should fit the crime.
As regards the case in question, the killers of James Bulger should have been in jail for a very long time and only then released on special licence, if ever. They can never can never be forgiven for the terrible crime they committed, and even at their young age nobody will convince me that they did not know what they were doing.
