Road closure at Gillygate a blessing in disguise?

LET’S hope that when Gillygate reopens, the drivers who have found alternative routes around town stick to them.

My daily bus journeys to work and back, from New Earswick to York city centre, have been bliss, taking about half the time they did before the closure.

Lynne J Lea, Rowan Avenue, New Earswick, York.

Unfortunately we suffer from "freedom to drive" which has a similar siocial impact to the USA's "freedom to bear arms". They have no end of deaths by shooting. We get our public transport snarled up by all indiscriminate car use, so that it can't offer a competitive service.
