Public anger is part of punishment for murderers of James Bulger

I am very concerned at the lack of information released about the return to prison of one of the murderers of James Bulger all those years ago.

It does seem that the perpetrator of this dreadful crime is being given all the rights in this case and none of the responsibilities.

As usual, with our over-lax law system, he has served an abysmally low term in prison, during which time presumably he was housed comfortably with all mod cons and then allowed all too soon to be turned loose on an unsuspecting public. I can hardly believe this young monster has been given a new identity, costing the taxpayer thousands of pounds, and yet this always seems to happen to the very worst types of criminals, to actually protect them from the public.

This criminal should have been detained for far longer, if not for life, and then released and left to fight his own battles with people who, quite rightly, feel he deserves all he may get. If he gets roughly treated, then whoever took the law into his own hands would be presumably detained and even convicted – that is another story.

There are many far more deserving ways of using public money than aiding and abetting murderers to enjoy anonymity in a society on whom they have already inflicted violence.

Surely, part of their punishment should be having to face up to their crimes and take whatever retribution may be meted out by that society.

Sympathetic to much of this letter, especially the short sentence given the crime, till the above. Let's get rid of courts then and leave it to the mob

What upsets me is that it is well-known in professional circles that sex offenders are never fixed (unless they are castrated of course). So, what do they do? They release them on the condition that they reside in the former bail-hostels. These 'establishments' are now targeted to house 70% of these offenders (as per 'Southview' on Boroughbridge Road), thus presenting a real risk to women and kids in the vicinity.

The legal sytem is twisted here. It is based on redemption but, without the aforementioed surgery, they will never be fixed. And so, they should be locked up for life.
