AS many people enjoyed a reunion at Joseph Rowntree School’s last look open day on Saturday, I sadly found myself rather a loner.
It was in 1942 at the age of 13, and with excitement, that I and my classmates entered this school. It was then spanking new and up to date. As I looked around it, it did not resemble the school I attended.
There had been many alterations and additions and yes, I thought, it certainly look ready to be on its way. However, it has served its purpose and will be remembered.
On a more serious note, I hope and pray the pupils who will move into the new school will treat it with the same respect as we did for their old school many years ago.
B M Horsley (née Fishburn), Raven Grove, York.
