People should look where they are going

I WAS reading the letter where the lady got knocked down by a scooter. Well, I myself use one and I can’t shop without it.

The thing is, I wish I had a pound for every time I hear some people say: “You nearly run into me.”

If some people would look where they are going we would not have to stop so many times. It is the same with pushchairs. They don’t look where they are going, they just think they own the road.

I am nearly 80 years old, and I can’t do my shopping without my scooter, so just watch where you are going.

Mrs A Knapton, Dower Court, William Plowes Avenue, York.

This is sadly typical of the attitude of some, but thankfully not all older people. Unfortunately she blames everything on others, and while we sympathise with her need to get about this should not pose a risk to other pedestrians.
She has the power in her machine to seriously injure others so she must realise that she is the potential hazard and not the young mother with pushchair and toddler in tow.
When you reach 70 plus you have to know your limits , and if you are no longer " safe to drive" whether this be car or " scooter" then maybe extra training would help, or you will have to find alternative transport.

What a stupid letter and, like the previous commentator describes, shows the attitude of some OAPs. Please be assured, if she hits me then she won't be going home on it.
It's time to get realistic with these s0ds. I had to submit forms concerning the heart pacemaker in me. I've never had any problem caused by my 'arrythmia' and it comes a bit of a shock when you see the statement "you can keep your license". By contrast, why let such deranged old g!ts drive on the footpath?
Sorry. There's plenty of idiots on this site that don't like my young grandaughters cycling on the pavement. So lets ban these senseless idiots on the footpath?

"Get out of my may you young whippersnapper I am coming through" gasp wheeze " I really don't understand the youth of today, how can they just walk along the pavement with a baby in a pushchair when I want to be there too?" and as for toddlers they should be strapped to their parents and not allowed on those reains to wander aimlessly along the footpath"
It's my Scooter and I will do as I like with it so there. I don't have insurance cos it's not going to be my fault
