Technology has achieved much to be admired.

Not so it appears when it comes to a 90-year-old gentlemen living alone, very deaf, wanting to report a fault to BT on his telephone.

Having spent nearly an hour getting nowhere he requested us as neighbours to help.

This we gladly did taking nearly a further hour to complete the requirements of BT before they could authorise remedial action.

What happened to “give us your name, address, phone number, post code and account number and we will gladly attend”.

For BT, common sense seems to have left this planet.
