WITH reference to the group of students floating along the River Ouse on inflatables (“Warning after stunt on river”, The Press, June 8), it makes you wonder.

Some of these students, on graduating, may achieve lucrative high positions in in law or government circles.

I achieved my swimming life-saving course as a police cadet in York in the now defunct St George’s swimming baths.

I know that the River Ouse is unrelenting in its natural course. Without back-up, ie life-saving equipment, lives can be lost.
