OH dear. The powers that be just haven’t grasped the imperative need for a relief road through the Nestlé site to eradicate the bottleneck in Wigginton Road (“Bus link plan at Cocoa West”, The Press, June 12).
Restricting the proposed link through new housing to buses, pedestrians and cycles will be a tragic lost opportunity.
This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to ease congestion outside York Hospital and get the traffic flowing. It should be an absolute requirement of any redevelopment of the former cocoa works.
Failing to pursue this desperately needed relief road is unforgivable.

Lord Mayors Walk, York
