I SEE work has started on the upgrade of the roundabouts on the A1037.

If the experts think that this will increase traffic flows with three lanes into the roundabouts and two lanes out of them, they must have been on a different road to the one I use.

A few use the centre lane going into the roundabouts wanting to go straight ahead.

They are then in the right hand lane going out, but within 100 yards they have

to move into the left hand lane.

This means that the traffic in the left hand lane has to slow down to let them in.

At the most these impatient drivers only gain one or two places in the the traffic flow, slowing the whole flow down.

Where is the net gain in that?

An accident waiting to happen.
