I AGREE with Pam Middleton in her letter of November 21.

I have experienced being 16 and 17, and also 21, and I know that one’s opinions change quite considerably in those years and even more as the years go on.

No wonder Jeremy Corbyn wants to catch ’em young.

My father, born in the late 1890s and educated at Scorten Grammar School (somewhat unusually as he did not come from a wealthy family), warned me not to be influenced by the socialist slant teachers would put on their teaching, no matter which subject that might be.

I was about 14 years old at the time and became aware quite quickly that he was right, and noticed also that it was evident with the lecturers at my teacher training college some years later.

Personal opinions should not be imposed on impressionable and vulnerable young minds. Sadly, it does not happen and Jeremy Corbyn is banking on it.
