I READ the letter by Fen Terbitt (The Press, October 9).
Parking charges are not forcing shoppers away from the city to the out of town shopping parks.
Small shops and businesses just cannot sustain the high rates and rents.
Asking for free parking for Minster badge holders - well, how many more freebies do they want?
This would lead to more cars in a city that is trying to reduce congestion and pollution.
To Fen Terbitt and all those who wish to shop and lunch in York and want free parking, I say take the bus, not the car.
After all, you can stay in town all day for a small bus fare.
Mr L Fraser, Flaxton, York
