DOZENS of taxi and private hire drivers took part in a slow drive around York yesterday to protest against Uber. They insist the company is not only a threat to their livelihoods, but also poses a risk to public safety.
No doubt they’d love City of York Council to follow Transport for London in refusing to renew Uber’s licence.
We see nothing wrong with a bit of competition.
But at the very least, Uber drivers should have to go through the same rigorous registration process as local drivers if they want to work in York.
