APPARENTLY the level to gain a good pass in the recent GCSE exam in higher tier maths was 18 per cent.

Surely accepting that not knowing the answers to four out of five questions is good enough shows just how far the expectation levels in this most important subject have fallen.

Using modern technology rather than good old brain power is obviously the norm in today’s classroom.
