CONGRATULATIONS to City of York Council for supporting the proposed pop-up Shakespearean theatre at York castle, which will be a boost to the economy as well as turning this part of the castle area into a public amenity.
Can such imaginative thinking now be applied to building the English Heritage visitor centre in that area, instead of it reverting to car parking?
This would re-instate the original medieval entrance to the castle, with pedestrian access from Castlegate.
If it has to be a modern building instead of a facsimile of the medieval castle gatehouse, so be it - but far better there than inserted into the side of Clifford’s Tower.
