SPORT should be for everybody. So it was great to see six young tennis players from York flying the flag for their city. They all won tennis medals for York in the Special Olympics at Sheffield, which finished last Friday.
William Farrow, 18, and 26-year-old Laura Campbell both won singles gold. Cameron Long, 23, Laura Wells and Emma Lindsay won silver, while 16-year-old Matthew Brough brought home a bronze.
Quite a haul. “It was unbelievable,” said Andy Crockett of York Disability tennis Network, who coached many of the young players. “I’m so proud of them.” So are we all, Andy.
