BEING diagnosed with cancer is horrible. It may no longer be an automatic death sentence, because treatments have improved enormously. But those treatments are gruelling. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy alike can leave patients washed out and sick to the stomach.

For people in rural areas, travelling long distances to receive treatment is hard. Step forward local charity York Against Cancer. It has just unveiled its new mobile chemotherapy unit, which will soon be taking treatment to patients across North Yorkshire.

What a great idea. The charity has once again showed it knows how to make a real difference to the quality of life of local cancer patients. Top marks.
