ON my return from holiday, I note that the proposals for the access road to the “teardrop” site have been published.
David Barrett, of the Friends of Holgate Community Garden, comments on the “little pocket of green space” being a home to a variety of wildlife.
I should advise him that the same was said of the little park in Fenwick Street and look at it now, under a large number of flats.
Notably, over the years many correspondents have encouraged this council on regarding the protection of “green spaces”, but to no avail.
York Natural Environment Trust, a group of enthusiastic volunteers being an umbrella for a number of local groups (Clifton Backies, Danesmead Meadow and Friends of the New Walk) just to mention a few, is always looking for more members.
Therefore, organisations such as Mr Barrett’s and other individuals may consider joining to add strength to their arm for their projects.
Contact may be made via Google (York Natural Environment Trust) or mick@phythian.org.uk.
