CAN I applaud the suggestions by letter writers on the future of our roads (The Press, July 12).

Have we got the right people in the community to make these decisions? That is the question. And are they listening one wonders?

We have to convince many not to use the car. Don’t encourage day trips, but encourage staying overnight at a coastal resort. These resorts make money on parking.

Come on, we need a tram service from York to Scarborough, stopping at places along its route, to take the stress off the roads.
