IN my non-illustrious cricket career, I only ever scored one century, and I was supposed to be a batsman.

This memorable day was in the early 1970s here at Common Road against none other than Selby Londesborough (Letters, June 24).

I hope that Peter Rickaby and all at his club have a wonderful day celebrating their 150 years.

On July 13, I will celebrate with them here at home, perhaps with a little tincture to hand, and try to recall memories of that glorious sunny day when their bowlers obligingly found the “meat” of my bat, and my cover drives that day had the stamp of Ted Dexter all over them.
