AH, the beauty of our first past the post electoral system.

The Tories lost their majority, the Lib Dems lost a little of their vote share, the Greens lost more than half of their vote, Ukip lost very heavily, the SNP lost more than a third of their seats, and Labour came nowhere near winning a majority.

The only winners were a Northern Ireland party with barely a quarter of a million votes who now find themselves with real power.

Those pioneers who invented the system deserve our thanks.

Having just researched what the DUP stand for, it appears that they stand more for the traditional Conservative values than the current Tory party.

A word of advice for Theresa May. Forget about taking any part in the Brexit negotiations and leave it in the more than capable hands of David Davis and his team.

You will have more than enough on your plate running the country and keeping your enemies in your own party in check.

The time to give up your party leadership will be when the Brexit deal is signed and sealed.
